ACEN has been founded in 2004 by Patrick Pirat, graduated engineer from Supelec, France.

After a first experience in software design for process control systems, Patrick joined in 1982 the Laboratoires Electroniques de Rennes (LER) of Thomson-CSF as R&D design engineer in digital TV : video encoder, HDTV simulation tool, infra-red picture tracking system.

He then turned towards the study and development of prototypes for the transport (ATM) and the broadcast (OFDM) of digital TV programs.

At the beginning of the 90’s Patrick actively promoted the OFDM technologies for digital broadcasting. He has been member of the Steering Committee of the DAB project and realized the first modem fully compliant with the DVB-T standard (project dTTb) used to strive for the deployment of digital terrestrial TV in Europe.

In 1998 Patrick joint ITIS a subsidary of Harris Communication as technical director. He has been in charge of the development of professionel products for the production and transport of DAB programs and the modulation and broadcast of OFDM-based digital TV.

Since 2004 ACEN has been working for leader french companies in picture, telecommunication and broadcast.
